My Gut Story

photo - Felicity TanMy name is Felicitas Tan and like millions of people all over the world, I suffered from digestive issues. When I was in my 20s, I was diagnosed with gastritis, an inflammation of the stomach lining. The pain in my stomach which extended to my upper back was unbearable. I remember not being able to go to work because of the pain.

I went to my family doctor and later to a specialist but all I got was temporary relief and as soon as I stopped taking my medications, the pain came back with a vengeance!

Fortunately, I met a Chinese Medicine doctor while attending a health conference in the Netherlands and he gave me a big bottle of a Chinese herbal tonic which he formulated himself.  I was skeptical but desperate so I took it. In just a week of taking it, the pain significantly subsided and in the second week, it was completely gone! But he advised me to take it for 90 days which I did. I got rid of my gastritis soon after.

I believe in the life-saving benefits of western medicine but at the same time, I’m also a firm believer in the efficacy of natural medicine.

Fast forward many many years later, I am now in my early 60s and just last year (2020), my gastritis came back. Unlike in my 20s when I was so busy building a career that I didn’t allot any time to do my research, I did my research this time. I surfed the net to find as much information as I could about gastritis and other digestive issues and remedies, and bought and read a lot of  books about the gut and gut health.

I went to see both my family doctor and my naturopath. I decided because of my research, to take gut health supplements instead of the medications that my doctor prescribed. I also listed down the food and drinks/beverages that triggered the pain and avoided taking them completely. I chewed the food I ate well. I ate just the right amount of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  About 4 months later, I felt much better.

The pain and discomfort that I have experience with gastritis has made me very interested about gut health and related digestive diseases (not just gastritis). My interest in supplements and natural cures also grew. While I do not claim to be an expert, I wanted to share what I have learned from my continuous research about gut health and supplements to people who might be experiencing digestive disorders themselves (or their loved ones) and hence, this website was born!

While this website contains information about the gut and how it works, as well as healthy gut recipes and tips, this website primarily focuses on gut health supplements:

In the process of discussing the supplements which facilitate the healing of gut health issues, various stomach and intestinal disorders are also discussed.

While there are other digestive ailments aside from those which involves the stomach and the intestines such as those involving the abdominal area and the esophagus,  stomach and intestinal disorders are the most common. Hence, a huge part of the information in this website are on the aforementioned.

There are various supplements available in the market today and selecting which one to buy for digestive health can be difficult, unless it was prescribed by your naturopath or holistice doctor. The cost can also be a factor in selecting which one to purchase.

So I included product reviews based on consumer or customer feedback as the main source of information for gut health supplement reviews. After all, there’s nothing like hearing it from the users themselves! No need to go through hundreds of comments at Amazon or other ecommerce stores selling these supplements. I provide you with a brief on selected gut health supplements, what consumers like about it, what they don’t like, and other important information for you to know.
